Panorama Tour

Apart from the Kruger National Park, the Panorama Route is one of the most beautiful and popular travel destinations in South Africa. A beautiful 35 km drive from Dreamfields Guesthouse take in some of Mpumalanga’s most spectacular scenery.

Go on a self-drive or organized full day or half day tour, winding your way through pine and eucalyptus forests whilst discovering some of Mpumalanga’s most awe-inspiring scenery and breathtaking views. Your tour will take you to the Blyde River Canyon, the third largest canyon in the world, including stops at spectacular sites such as God’s Window, Wonder View, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, with its extraordinary rock formations, the Three Rondavels and some of the most picturesque and revitalizing waterfalls of the region.

Graskop Gorge Lift

Lift & Forest

Graskop Gorge Lift is centrally located on Mpumalanga's Panorama Route just outside Graskop. There is something for the entire family to enjoy at Graskop Gorge Lift

The viewing lift takes visitors 51 metres down the face of the Graskop Gorge, into the indigenous forest below, where wooden walkways and suspension bridges make up a 600-metre circular trail. In the forest, interactive exhibits and interpretation boards enable visitors to explore the diverse life that thrives under the dense canopy of trees, and they can enjoy the waterfall and meandering stream, too.

Big Swing

The Big Swing, one of the world’s highest cable gorge swings, launches off the top of the waterfall. The experience is very different to a bungee jump, as participants freefall for 70 metres before the jump rope pulls them into a high-speed arch and they swing from one side of the gorge to the other. When falling, they reach a speed of 140km/h in three seconds.

Zipline

Visitors who still want to get their hearts racing, but think the Big Swing too extreme for them, can choose to fly across the gorge on a high-wire zipline. The course starts from the top of a five-metre tower with 360-degree views. Participants ride a 120-metre-long zipline to the northern side of the gorge, before walking a short distance along a scenic platform and zipping back along a second zipline of equal length.

Suspension Bridge, Shops & Restaurants

The spectacular 52-metre-long suspension bridge, which spans the northern and southern sides of the Graskop Gorge, enables visitors to enjoy spectacular views while standing 70 metres above the ground. There are also two restaurants on-site, the Lift Café and Swing Café. While the Lift Café is a spacious, inviting restaurant and bar, with the most spectacular views, the Swing Café is a laid-back chill zone offering flame-grilled chicken, a choice of sides and an array of beverages. The Swing Café has a choice of seating, from a gorge-edge counter to traditional tables and chairs and inviting couches.

For those who enjoy their retail therapy, there are also a variety of shops and a community craft centre to enjoy.

Sky Way Trails

Experience the freedom of gliding over one of the last remaining natural forested valleys along the Sabie River adjacent to the Kruger National Park. The aerial cable trail takes you down into the valley basin, stopping along the way on a number of elevated platforms to admire the natural vegetation, birdlife and the views of the forest floor below. The cable trail gives you a unique perspective of the environment. And as you descend through some of the most spectacular scenery in this region and with the sound of running water always in the background it is sure to be an experience you will never forget.

Each section of the trail varies in length, from 70 to 230 meters, linking a total of 10 platforms, making this the longest cable trail in Africa (1,2km). The trail has been designed and built to South African civil engineering standards and all the equipment has been designed specifically for this activity and tried and tested with your safety in mind worldwide. All groups are escorted by qualified guides.

Elephant Whispers

Join us for an enlightening interactive elephant experience; meet our five magnificent African elephants and learn about their extraordinary behaviour and physiology, observing first-hand how the elephants have developed trust in the kindness and care they receive from the team.

Visitors to the Centre experience life-changing moments when they encounter the elephants, the Elephant Whispers Team work hard to translate this into an understanding of the need for long-term, sustainable wildlife conservation, and elephant conservation in particular.

For those seeking an enjoyable meaningful experience, an elephant interaction at Elephant Whispers is a memorable and touching activity not to be missed. The mighty elephant is the world’s largest living land animal, the mere sight of these impressive tusked creatures inspires awe and respect.

The tracks vary from technical to very easy, so it is suitable for the expert as well as the beginner!

Geckoing is the by far one of the best adventure activities that humans came up with – it rocks! This is probably the best way to descend a low volume river like the Sabie. A Gecko is a very small raft that you steer with webbed gloves, no paddles needed! It is very easy to steer and very safe, and one of the coolest ways to have fun with family and friends in the sun and water!

River Rafting is offered on the Sabie River sand this excursion traverses 20 rapids (grade 2–3) through areas of scenic vegetation and outstanding wildlife viewing. This 8 km route is yielding to the novice, yet accommodating to the thrill seeker within all of us
